We’re in the process of bootstrapping a new business
This ‘about’ page is being written at the time of the re-publishing of the overall website. There will be residential wind turbine reviews, updates, and one day – products of our own.
For now, there are only a handful of pages published, and this is very much a side project. Rather than telling you all about our company and products, the ones that don’t exist just yet… Let’s devote this page to the philosophy of why wind power is of interest to us as a project. Why will we create a side project in this space?
Tackling the ‘big’ problems
The current state of world affairs is a worry. We could look at human history and see that we’re in a period of comparative peace and technological advancement. We can only imagine how informed people felt during the times of the two world wars. Go back further and the dark ages seemed a magnitude worse, even during times of peace, for the common people.
That said, Many of us can’t help how we feel… Even if you subscribe to the school of thought that we’ve never had it so good (you’re statistically correct), we can’t shake the feeling of concern.
Even if humanity is on an upturn, vigilance can prevent backsliding, and our better future could come sooner.
One day, there might be no war, no famine, and no pollution. School children might be taught that the dark ages lasted from 1300 to 2050. (Or 2150/2250 etc depending on how soon we get our act together and finally become civilised globally).
This website does not cover the topics of war, hunger, slavery, inequality, religious or political belligerence…
An optimal energy mix for the future
We discuss energy on this website, which is the core of life itself. We try to focus on real issues and decisions, rather than the petty squabbles we too often see in politics.
In a world of bipartisanship where it sometimes seems like:
The left would want to ban fossil fuels and put the workers in jail…
… and …
… The right would discourage any new green technology that’s more expensive than oil, gas, coal etc.
Can’t we all see that there needs to be an energy mix to supply our needs? The best balance considering economic constraints, current infrastructure and the environment? The percentage share of this energy mix over time will change, gradually, due to many factors currently unforeseen, and potentially beyond our control.
Economists discuss opportunity cost, in that there is always a finite supply of time, money or available resources, and by choosing one, you forego another. What’s the opportunity cost in spending our personal time, money and attention on condescending arguments, insults and mudslinging?
Can’t that same effort be put to a positive use? Can’t we make an effort to advance technology, be it wind, solar or anything else? Can’t we look at the facts, numbers and choices for the future?
Can’t we create the best energy mix that balances our needs, finances and fears, do the best with what we have, when we have it?
Which is right now.
